2019 Year Review: Quitting my job and moving to NYC

Happy New Year(and decade)!

I graduated High School, lol go Knights, in 2010, so that means 10 years of me growing up to be an independent adult has happened. I’m going to share a little about my year and goals for 2020 in hopes to keep myself accountable.

I entered 2019 living in Charlotte, NC working in the field for pacemakers and cardiac mapping.I decided I wanted to focus all of my efforts into getting in EP, Electrophysiology. This is the study of the electrical system in your heart, and I want to specialize in this because I I felt it was more preventative in the cardiac care space. I spent 6 months studying for my certification in EP which was in JUNE, I moved to NYC in August, switching jobs. Biosense Webster is a subsidiary of Johnson and Johnson and is the leader for electrophysiology in the nation. I also began teaching yoga at a new CorePower studio in Greenwich Village! Catch me at 8:30 am on Sat and 1 PM on Sunday. Megna Saha Photo resurfaced as a website where I post gallery installments quarterly on my creative photography. Look out for potentially a YouTube Channel in 2020…. #vlogs

I felt this year was about habits. I learned to tackle a few habits at a time and then sustain them, rather than tackle a million and lose track of everything. The habits I sustained were

  • Have a consistent yoga practice. I practiced yoga at least 22 times every month. This serves as meditation and major stress release for me.

  • Pescatarian. I was only eating fish and vegetarian for 9 months, unfortunately when I moved to NYC this stopped. I saw great benefits like having tons of energy during the day without coffee, less bloated, and less expensive groceries. Going into 2020, I’d like to pick this up again at least during weekdays.

New Goals

  1. DRY. This year is about consuming less, even alcohol. I am not going completely dry, but limiting my self to less than 2 drinks all days except Saturdays. I have been having some intense hangovers so I feel like this is something I need to try.

  2. SAVE. Since I am consuming less, I want to save 40% of my total income. I have never made savings a theme of the year, but I want to build a more sustainable life and this involves changing the way I spend my money. I’m dabbling in investments like index funds, and maxing out my 401K contribution. If you have any tips, please share!!

  3. EXPAND. I’d like to expand my interests this year. I have found myself on the weekends doing the same things, reading the same content, watching the same type of shows on Netflix. I want to expand my perspective and I don’t think you need to always travel to a new country to do that. This can start by using my membership at the NY Library to read more books(FREE), go to more open art installations in NY(less than 20$), and being mindful about making friends who like different things than me.

If you have made it this far, then thank you :) I wish everyone an amazing New Year and the best decade of their life! If you are ever in NYC, alway reach out!
