2024 Review
I am a bit late, but 2024 was a sobering year. Overall it was filled with rich experiences, and i’m happy how it turned out. I’m nervous about keeping it up in 2025!
SAVE:
I achieved a 60% Savings Rate! I use YNAB(You Need A Budget) which has changed my finances since I started using it in 2020. I want to keep my savings rate to 60% next year. Here is a break down of my spending:
Some notes:
- I spent half on alcohol this year than previously…we have been hanging out with friends during the day more and doing more rooftop/house parties.
-I doubled my health insurance spending… it was just one of those years…lots of medical bills. Important to save for it! I have an HSA, but I invest that money so I have been spending on my medical expenses from budgeting.
- No wedding this year!! So naturally saved a lot of money(7%) on that this year. I don’t regret the money we spent last year on the wedding, it was worth it!
- Shopping and Travel were down this year because we had no surprise trips….we gave and tipped double compared to last year which I am happy about.
- At the end of the year - I canceled my Equinox Membership(RIP) and Amex Platinum Card - should be saving an extra 5k next year with just those expenses gone.
Here were my 2024 Goals. The reason I share on the internet is to keep myself accountable!
🍀 Life
Fitness Routine -
❌ Log 156 workouts on my Apple Watch
My Apple Watch died in February so no tracking the whole year! My fitness really suffered this year, but I did the best I could. I went to a workout class once a week, and took a walk once a week.
✅ Travel - 2 New Cities this year
Mexico City: January - Best workout classes
Jamaica: April - I recommend the Rock House in Negril!
Copenhagen, Denmark - August - This was Hamiltons favorite place we traveled, we loved the lifestyle and beautiful city.
Stockholm, Sweden + Archipelago - Very similar to New York so we would not go back for vacation! It was cool for me to see Spotify headquarters though! Ikea was a big let down…looks the same as USA.
✅ Join a book club
We read 12 books this year! This was a great use of time, and was alot of fun. We read: Berry Pickers, The Husbands, The Housemaid 1 and 2, First Lie Wins, The Paradise Problem, Malibu Rising, The Perfect Couple, The Women, and The Wedding People! My favorite was the The Women by Kristin Hannah. I also completed the Throne of Glass Series. It was sooo long, but I enjoyed reading it. I read 22 books this year, but throne of glass series was like reading 100 books.
✅ Start a family(whether thats animals or kids - who knows)
This is a stupid goal looking back at it. Every couple has their own journey, and starting a family looks different for everyone. I wrestled a lot this year on kids, timing, and getting my life together enough to even carve room out for prioritizing this. In the end of the day, I decided I wanted to at least try because I want to have at least one kid in my life time. After some ups and downs, I am currently pregnant and due in June! We are so excited, but also cautious for this next step in the future.
💰 Savings
✅Increase to 60% for 2024 - Yay! I expect next year I will save more money cause I can’t do as much being pregnant!
🤑 Business
❌Overachieve my sales quota - This did not happen…but there’s always next year!
Thanks to everyone who made it this far! I don’t have any goals this year except to survive. I should make this thrive, but i’ve been sick for 4 months straight sooo just am taking my time and trying to make small improvements to my 2024 goals. If you have goals for 2025- i’d love to hear them!!
