2021 Review

2021 felt better than last year. This year was hard as I am transitioning to a more stable and less chaotic lifestyle. Sometimes this can make me feel like my life should be more exciting, but maybe everyone feels that way as they get older? Let me know, but I’ve been happy and excited about the slow progress to becoming a better version of myself!

SAVE:

My savings rate will be included in every year review because i’ve really been dedicated to investing and it’s been awesome to see my net worth grow over the years for that commitment! My goal was to reach a 45% savings rate which I achieved! I switched over to YNAB(You Need A Budget) in December 2020 and I single handedly believe this software helped me achieve this number. I want to keep my savings rate at 45% next year as I want to focus more on travel in 2022. Here is a break down of my spending:

Now lets get into my 2021 goals. I hope sharing this with everyone on the internet allows me to track my progress next year. I had three major goals for 2021 : Heal, Monetize, and Reuse..

Heal:

❌ Build a New Fitness Routine

I really tried here , but I don’t think I like the gym. I did try lots of different routines like boxing, weights, running, biking, classes...nothing stuck. I realized that the only fitness routine I really love is yoga. So I plan to focus on that in 2022.

✅ Develop a Morning / Night Routine

I started sleeping better at night with a routine. I am using the CBD gummies from Highline Wellness. I haven’t completely set my morning routine but I am pretty stable at waking up at 6:30 am every morning so I’ll call that a win.

✅ Schedule My Routine Care in January

I did all of my annual appointments in January and I loved it because if I got sick later in the year, I could just do virtual visits. I spent a record low amount in healthcare this year!

✅Fix My Teeth (for the second time)

After 9 months of breezy braces, they are off and I am wearing my retainer only at night! I am very happy with my teeth and I’m so happy I made the investment in a time where everyone was wearing masks!

Monetize:

❌ Make 900 dollars in business

I decided to enroll in Parsons for Certificate in Digital Photography at the beginning of the year. This was 3 courses over 9 months which I studied photo composition and digital editing. I spent 1500.00 on the whole course, but I thought it was worth it. I got to meet a-lot of people and find out what the standards in the industry are. I’m more excited about photography as Art than I am about making money right now.

❌ Start a YouTube channel

I never did this. I think it’s something that feels too daunting with editing, filming, and posting online. Hamilton is getting more into Youtube so maybe I will start posting some. I’m a perfectionist so its hard for me to post unless I think something is worth it.

✅ Start teaching yoga(again)

Yes! Started this up again and I made enough money to cover my photography expenses and my gym membership!

Reuse:

✅ Second hand shopping

I actually started a service called fashion pass where I rent clothes and I like it way more than buying second hand clothes

Ok so that wraps up 2021, now let’s talk about 2022 goals. I had too many goals last year, and I want to streamline this year to achieve more success. The reality is working in NYC is very demanding. I work a-lot and have unpredictable late hours. I don’t have the bandwidth for too much more.

Yoga

My goal is to practice at least 3 times a week.

Hair, Skin, Nails

Strengthen and increase volume in my hair, skin and nails.

Travel

Visit 2 new countries this year.

Home

Establish a home with Hamilton in our new apartment in Union Square (come visit!)

Thats it for me! Thank you if you’ve made it this far and would love to hear your goals for 2022 :)
